Heavy rainfall prompts closure of over 350 roads across Himachal Pradesh: Media sources reported on August 19 that heavy rainfall and landslides across Himachal Pradesh, India, have prompted the closure of over 350 roads. As of August 18, 192 roads in Mandi district were disrupted, alongside 103 in Kullu, 29 in Sirmaur, 26 in Kangra, and 11 each in Chamba and Shimla districts. Among the affected are National Highway 3 and National Highway 505, as well as the Chandigarh-Manali highway. The alternative route through Kandughad is also reportedly blocked. Congestion was reported earlier along the highway at Takoli, Panarsa, Jhalogi, and 9 Mile. Congestion has also been reported on the Aut-Banjar section of NH-305 and the Larji to Sainj road in Kullu district. Logistics disruptions are to be anticipated until weather conditions improve and road repairs on damaged sections are concluded.

This measure will take effect on 20 August 2025, in accordance with article 17-013 of the Convention Regulations. Any transit or misrouted items containing goods that are destined for the United States and arrive at Canada Post’s international mail processing centres will be returned to origin.

The designated operator of Australia, Australia Post, wishes to inform Union member countries and their designated operators that, in the light of the new import requirements introduced by the US executive order dated 30 July 2025, it will no longer accept open or closed transit items containing goods destined for the United States of America. This measure will take effect on 20 August 2025, in accordance with article 17-013 of the Convention Regulations. Any transit or misrouted items containing goods that are destined for the United States and arrive at Australia Post’s international mail processing centres will be returned to origin.

Heavy rainfall causes flooding in parts of Mumbai: Media sources reported that heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding in several parts of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, since the early hours of August 16. The most affected areas included Andheri, Kurla, Dadar, Sion, Chembur. According to reports, residential buildings as well as several roadways, and railway tracks were inundated, resulting in major transportation disruptions. As a result of a landslide in Vikhroli, two people were killed and two got injured. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Mumbai and Raigad districts. Business and logistic disruptions are likely until weather conditions improve.

Ground handling strike causes nationwide disruptions at airports: Media sources reported that a ground handling staff strike caused disruptions at airports across Spain since August 16. The most affected airports include Barcelona International Airport (IATA: BCN), while Girona–Costa Brava Airport (IATA: GRO) and Reus Airport (IATA: REU) also reported cancelations and delays. It remains unclear how long the strike will last, and thus, further interruptions to flight services are expected.

As the designated operator for the United Kingdom, Royal Mail informs members of an IT issue affecting EMSEVT scanning data for a significant volume of import parcels and packets. Due to a recent internal system change on 11th Aug, some tracking events are not reaching to origin postal operators or IPC/UPU systems, although they are appearing on Royal Mail’s Track & Trace. Our IT suppliers are investigating the root cause.

Any transit or misrouted items containing goods destined for the United States and arriving at SingPost’s international mail processing centres will be returned to origin.

The designated operator of Portugal, CTT Correios de Portugal, wishes to inform the designated operators of other Union member countries that, in the light of the new import requirements introduced by the US executive order dated 30 July 2025, it is temporarily suspending acceptance of open or closed transit items containing goods destined for the United States of America. This measure will take effect on 22 August 2025, in accordance with article 17-013 of the Convention Regulations. Any transit or misrouted items containing goods destined for the United States and arriving at CTT Correios’ international mail processing centres will be returned to origin.

The designated operator of New Zealand, NZ Post, wishes to inform the designated operators of other Union member countries that, in the light of the new import requirements introduced by the US executive order dated 30 July 2025, it is temporarily suspending acceptance of open or closed transit items containing goods destined for the United States of America. This measure will take effect on 22 August 2025, in accordance with article 17-013 of the Convention Regulations. Any transit or misrouted items containing goods destined for the United States and arriving at NZ Post’s international mail processing centre will be returned to origin.
