Zimbabwe – Cyclone Idai

Zimbabwe Post has advised that parts of Zimbabwe have been affected by Cyclone Idai, which hit the country on Friday 15th March 2019. The cyclone caused serious damage to bridges and the road network in parts of Manicaland. The collection and delivery of letter post, parcels and EMS items have been affected in Chimanimani, Chipinge, Biriiri, Birchenough, Nyanga, Nyazura and Rasitu areas.

Zimbabwe Post thanks everyone for their understanding and will advise once the situation has returned to normal.

USA – IT Problems

United States Postal Service (USPS) has confirmed they are experiencing IT problems and it’s affecting the generation of EDI messages.

USPS is currently working with its IT department to resolve the problem. Based on initial investigations, it appears that some messages are not being processed properly and that pre-advice of dispatch (PREDES), pre-advice of consignment (PRECON) and carrier/documents international transport advice (CARDIT) are currently affected. The team is monitoring and assessing the extent of the impact. Any updates will be provided as soon as more information available.

Israel – possible disruption of EDI transmissions

Israel Postal Company has confirmed that the new software for its Courier Division will go live on Friday 15th March 2019.

As a result, there may be some temporary disruptions to the sending of EDI messages for EMS items.

Israel Postal Company apologises for advance for any inconvenience and will inform member countries and their designated operators of further developments.

Spain – Strike

Spain’s post has advised that all inbound and outbound operations on 8th March could be affected by a general strike called by trade unions marking International Women’s Day.
