Royal Mail Price Increase

Unfortunately, Royal Mail has notified us that they have brought forward their annual January price increase to November and will be implementing these increases from 7th November 2022 due to increasing costs.

If your account is affected by these increases your Account Manager will be in contact to discuss your account requirements.

Poland

Poland Post has advised that they are currently experiencing a significant increase in the volume of items received in their network due to aid assistance they are providing to boarding Ukraine. Poland Post is continuing to process and deliver items as soon as possible, however, due to increased volumes delays are expected.

United Kingdom

Royal Mail has confirmed that they will be taking industrial strike action over 4 days later this month and at the start of September. Members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and mail are taking part in the strike action over the below dates:

  • 26th August and 31st August
  • 8th September and 9th September

Royal Mail has advised they are sorry for the disruption that the strike action is likely to cause and want to reassure everyone they will do everything they can to minimise disruption and get services back to normal as quickly as possible.

They have well-developed contingency plans, but they cannot fully replace the daily efforts of their frontline workforce. They will do what they can to keep services running, but customers should expect significant disruption. During the strike action they will:

  • Deliver as many Special Delivery and Tracked24 parcels wherever possible
  • Prioritise delivery of COVID test kits and medical prescriptions wherever possible
  • They will not be delivering letters (with the exception of Special Delivery).

Royal Mail thanks everyone for your patience and understanding during this time.

Only 7 weeks to move across to the Customs Declaration Service (CDS)

Dear Customer,

This communication is relevant to all our customs clearance customers. Please pass this information on to any Traders you may represent.

Only 7 weeks to move across to the Customs Declaration Service (CDS)

The last day we will be able to make import declarations on the Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight (CHIEF) system is 30th September 2022, meaning there is less than 2 months to go. To continue trading, from 1st October 2022 we will need to make your import declarations on the Customs Declaration Service (CDS). The last day for making export declarations on CHIEF will be 31st March 2023, when CHIEF will close.

HMRC have lots of online support available to help you understand the move to CDS, including:

  • Step-by-step checklists that explain how to move across
  • A new series of short videos on YouTube that explain how to complete the following steps in more detail:
    • How to subscribe to CDS
    • How to use your customs financial accounts on CDS
    • How to set up standing authority on CDS
    • How to set up a Direct Debit instruction on CDS
    • How to use the secure file upload service on CDS

Register and get access to the Customs Declarations Service on GOV.UK.

REX Numbers

UKP Worldwide (UKPW) require all Traders who are claiming preferential status on EU origin goods to provide their REX number. It would seem that HMRC have relented and confirmed that the REX code should be that of the Exporter rather than the supplier of aid goods. However, UKPW still have a responsibility to audit this and request evidence to support any claims for preference, so please be sure that you are able to provide any evidence required to substantiate any claims for any audits.

In addition, we require all Traders to complete a new form to substantiate this claim. Your UKPW Account Manager will provide the template shortly.  Visit here for further information and how to apply for a REX number.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact our Client Services team at ukpclientservices@ukpworldwide.com.
