The importance of a competent partner!

Seven Senders and UKP Worldwide (UKPW) joined forces at the start of 2021, after being introduced by a mutual customer. Early 2021, was a challenging time for us dealing with Brexit and its consequences, it felt like something out of the wild west.

With the everchanging customs procedures being introduced by the UK Government, it was tricky keeping up to speed – working with UKPW took the pressure off. At the start, it wasn’t uncommon for Lee and me to be sat up during customs changeover to ensure all went smoothly.

Seven Senders is one of the largest transport platforms in the EU for eCommerce businesses – our customers don’t want to deal with any customs issues or rules but expect us to continue to provide the best service to them, so for us, it was important to have a competent partner in the importing country to deliver a smooth end-to-end service.

Working together with MS-Direct, UKPW provide regular low and high-value customs clearance at both the border and port, including final mile handover to carriers like Royal Mail including the use of services like transit procedures and postponed VAT accounting.

Our business is revolved around the constant movement of goods for our customers (traders). whether it’s importing or exporting, post-Brexit we started facing challenges! 2021 was a detrimental time for our business and we had to work fast to find a suitable solution to keep our customer’s goods moving. 

After searching for potential partners, we came across UKP Worldwide (UKPW) by referral. We were impressed by the knowledge and experience shared by Lee and Guy in an initial meeting and decided to make a partnership. UKPW weren’t phased by the scalability of customers we needed to have onboard and quickly proceeded to start the onboarding process. 

Both technical teams met and hatched an integration plan to ensure a smooth changeover between suppliers causing little disruption to the supply chain. Now over 12-months later, we have 25+ traders onboarded and this number continues to grow. 

Working with UKPW and using their low-value declaration solution has enabled us to drive our eCommerce business scaling both the solution to our customers but also our business. The next 12 months continue to see us strengthen our partnership as our UK colleagues continue to work closely with UKPW and our expansion plans, as well as UKPW providing services directly to our customers with final mile shipping solutions for the US and UK.

A long term customs partnership

Post-Brexit we needed to find a solution to moving our goods between the UK and the EU in the most efficient and cost-effective manner, as the impact of getting the setup wrong would have resulted in millions of pounds of additional duty incurred annually.

We met with numerous potential partners but it quickly became apparent that Lee and the team from UKP Worldwide (UKPW) were both experts in their field but also flexible in their approach, which we felt was critical as we looked to build a long term solution in a constantly changing and uncertain political and economic environment.

So far, 2021 proved to be the most challenging from a customs clearance standpoint but leveraging our partnership with UKPW, we managed to navigate those challenges and have come out stronger as a result. And, despite several suppliers being involved in the end-to-end supply chain, UKPW helps massively by taking control of the whole process, meaning my team has one point of contact and can rely on UKPW to manage our goods movements and provide quick updates to any queries we may have.

This year see us continuing to grow our partnership as more post-Brexit rules are implemented and UKPW continues to support and educate us throughout these changes.

Easy US returns

UKP Worldwide were approached by a leading fashion retailer to provide a reliable returns service for their US outbound traffic.

Objectives:

The returned items needed to be delivered to a local US address and repatriated back to the UK.

Results:

UKP Worldwide’s US return solution enables retailers to provide a local US return address for their US deliveries. Customers can log onto a portal and manage the process online, printing off labels and information to provide a smooth, easy to use service.

Our customer found that their sales to the US increased as their US customers could shop with confidence knowing that any unwanted purchases could be easily returned. Our client could control associated shipping costs involved in repatriating goods and reply on UKP Worldwide’s expertise in bringing items back to the UK using a fully HMRC compliant service.

US shipping with confidence

A large UK based publisher with 26 consumer magazines had a complex marketing campaign which was sent out with their various magazine titles. The campaign was cross selling magazines, books and merchandise to try and increase magazine subscriptions and product sales.

Objectives:

Our objective was to simplify the campaign without losing the personal touch! The original campaign consisted of hand matching four separate inserts, which were all personally addressed with a specific offer targeted for that reader.

Results:

After sitting down and reviewing all the content required, our data team suggested replacing the inserts with an A3 carrier sheet. Each carrier sheet was designed to amalgamate all the information and it was personalised for the individual reader, the ability to use variable data greatly enhanced this. We use a combination of different pictures, offers and currencies on a single sheet, that not only looks impressive but has saved costs for our client too.

UKP Worldwide were approached by a leading wholesale eCommerce distributor to provide a reliable and compliant delivery service to the US for their portfolio of clients.

Objectives:

The items needed to be delivered on a trackable service within a reasonable timeframe.

Results:

UKP Worldwide through their partnership with USPS as an accredited Global Direct Entry Wholesaler are able to access all the USPS tracked parcel services and provide a fully compliant delivery service for items under $800. Taking care of all the EU export requirements as well as clearing into the US, our service provides customers with a 4-7 working day delivery service. UKP can also provide email triggers announcing different delivery stages keeping everyone abreast of the delivery status of every item.

Our success in delivering to the US meant that this client trusted UKP Worldwide to also handle deliveries to other key destinations including the Republic of Ireland and Mexico.
