The designated operator of Portugal, CTT Correios de Portugal, wishes to inform Union member countries and their designated operators that Menzies, which provides ground handling services, has announced strike action at Portugal’s mainland airports during July and August, scheduled as follows (from Friday to the following Monday in each case): • From 00.00 on 25 July to 24.00 on 28 July; • From 00.00 on 8 August to 24.00 on 11 August; • From 00.00 on 15 August to 24.00 on 18 August; • From 00.00 on 22 August to 24.00 on 25 August; • From 00.00 on 29 August to 24.00 on 1 September. As normal ground handling operations cannot be guaranteed during these periods, disruption to both inbound and outbound mail services is to be expected. Furthermore, in view of the strikes, Lufthansa, Air France–KLM and LOT have declared an embargo on mail shipments on all their flights.

Heavy rainfall causes flooding in parts of Son La: Local media sources reported that heavy rainfall has caused flooding in several communes across Son La province, Viet Nam, on the night between July 26 and 27. The affected communes include Huoi Mot, Chieng So, Bo Sinh, Chieng Khoong, Nam Ty, and Song Ma. The National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting has issued warnings of flash floods and landslides in the province of Son La on July 27. Business and logistics disruptions should be expected until the floodwater recedes.

Heavy rainfall causes flooding in parts of Miyun, Beijing: Local media sources reported that heavy rainfall caused flooding in parts of Miyun District, Beijing, China, since the afternoon of July 26. Several roads in Shicheng, Fengjiayu, and Bulaotun towns were cut off due to flooding. Authorities issued red warnings for heavy rains in parts of Miyun, Huairou, and Yanqing districts. Lingering disruptions to businesses and logistics should be expected.

Truck drivers plan nationwide strike on July 24–25: Media sources report on July 15 that truck drivers across Peru will launch a nationwide strike on July 24 and 25 to protest rising extortion and government inaction. The strike is organized by the National Association of Drivers (ANCPP), with a mass rally planned at Plaza Dos de Mayo in Lima, followed by a march to the Public Ministry. Coordination is underway to extend the strike through July 28 with support from regional transport groups. Business disruptions can be expected during the strike.
