The designated operator of France, La Poste, has advised that owing to a major incident regarding its information system, lasting from Monday, 10th to Thursday, 13th February 2025 and relating to customs clearance of letter-post items bearing Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) numbers, a risk of double taxation has been identified.

La Poste has re-sent as many declarations as possible to the French customs authority and its delivery staff have been informed of the problem. La Poste is making every effort to avoid the erroneous collection of customs charges from addressees who have already paid via the IOSS number.

Update 03.03.2025

The designated operator of Belgium, has confirmed the blockades have been lifted at various sorting centres.

However, targeted strikes may continue throughout the bpost network, especially in the Brussels region and the south of Belgium.

As a result, significant delays are to be expected in the collection, sorting and distribution of domestic and international letter post and parcel post (both inbound and outbound) throughout the country.

We will share any further updates once available.

We are pleased to confirm that an agreement has been reached with the Unions and as a result, all actions will come to an end in the South of Belgium and Brussels.

Please bear with us while suppliers work through the backlog. Some delays are still expected until the backlog has been cleared.

The designated operator of Finland, Posti Jakelu Ltd, informs that the PAM Service Union has called a strike from 17:00 local time on 17 February to 17:00 local time on 20 February 2025. This strike may lead to delays of a few days in the handling of mail that requires customs clearance.

Truck drivers block access to World Trade Bridge III in Nuevo Laredo: Media sources on 27th February reported that truck drivers blocked access to World Trade Bridge III in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, in protest against prolonged inspections by the authorities. Truck drivers were demanding a reduction in inspection times, better working conditions, and fixed salaries. The blockade has also disrupted crossings at the Puerta a las Américas and Juárez-Lincoln bridges. It was unclear when the blockades may be lifted.

Mauritius Post wishes to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that Mauritius has been experiencing cyclonic conditions since 26 February 2025 and that a class 3 cyclone warning has been issued by Mauritius Meteorological Services. As a result, the international airport is temporarily closed and all flights have been cancelled. All economic/business activities have been suspended and all of the island’s post offices and postal facilities are closed (MUPLUA, MUPLUB and MUPLUC). The transportation and processing of both inbound and outbound mail (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items) are affected, and delays are to be expected in the delivery of mail throughout the country. Accordingly, Mauritius Post has declared a case of force majeure. The authorities are monitoring the situation closely and Mauritius Post will provide an update via EmIS once the situation has returned to normal.

Greece 26.02.2025

The designated operator of Greece, Hellenic Post has confirmed that the Confederation of Greek Workers and the Association of Civil Servants have announced a 24-hour strike on Friday, 28th February. The air traffic controllers have also announced their participation in the strike.

This action will affect the collection and delivery of both international and domestic mail.

Suriname 26.02.2025

Suriname Postal Corporation (Surpost), wishes to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that Surpost personnel have called a strike, effective from 19th February 2025 until further notice. As a result, there may be disruption to Surpost’s operations, including delays in the processing and handling of mail. Negotiations are ongoing and Surpost will provide relevant updates via EmIS. Any questions should be addressed to Surpost via the usual channels.

Georgia 26.02.2025

The designated operator of Georgia, Georgian Post, wishes to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that owing to very poor weather conditions, mail delivery throughout the western region of Georgia has been disrupted since 23rd February 2025. In some areas, deliveries are partially restricted, while in others they have been completely suspended. These conditions have inevitably resulted in delays in the processing and delivery of mail. Conditions are expected to improve soon, allowing postal services to resume normal operations in the near future.
