Strike to disrupt flights in and out of Italy: Media sources reported on April 25 that the CUB Trasporti union has called for a national 4-hour air transport strike across Italy from 13:00 to 17:00 local time on May 9. The protest will involve airline and airport workers. Additionally, Flai Trasporti e Servizi has called on ground handling staff to go on strike during the same period. Flight disruptions are likely during the strike action.

Heavy rainfall causes disruptions at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport: Local media sources on May 6 reported that heavy rainfall has caused disruptions at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (IATA: SZX) in China on the same day. As per aviation sources, 374 flights were delayed at the airport. Flight disruptions are likely to continue until weather conditions improve.

Due to high inbound volumes and difficulties organizing overtime shifts at offices of exchange (OEs), the backlog of parcels and EMS items has not yet been completely cleared.

At present, it is estimated that the entire backlog should be cleared by the beginning of the week commencing Monday, 19 May 2025.

Ground handlers launch warning strike at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport: Local media sources reported on May 5 that HiSERV employees at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (IATA: BER), Germany, launched a warning strike on May 5, which will continue till May 9. The Verdi union called for the strike in response to ongoing labor disputes and the termination of the collective bargaining negotiations. HiSERV provides ground handling services at Berlin-Bradenburg Airport. Disruptions to airport operations can be expected.
