Power outage disrupts Veracruz custom operations: Media sources on July 31 report that the port of Veracruz, Mexico (MX VER) has suspended all custom operations due to a persistent power outage since July 29. The power outage forced reliance on limited mobile inspection units before a complete halt at 03:14 local time on July 30. Emergency generators were shut down later that day to avoid equipment failure and port yards were closed at 14:30 local time to manage truck congestion. The outage has caused major delays in import and export operations with truck queues and delays of over 10 hours. Operational disruptions are expected to continue until the power is fully restored.

Heavy rain causes flooding in Neamț and Suceava: Media sources report that heavy rainfall caused flooding in Neamț and Suceava Counties, Romania, on July 28. Over 900 people were evacuated from areas including Farcașa, Poiana Teiului, and Borca. Sources also report that several zones were affected by rising floodwaters and the collapse of National Road 177A, along with other damaged routes. Three fatalities were confirmed in Suceava County. Disruptions are expected to continue until weather conditions improve.

The designated operator of Portugal, CTT Correios de Portugal, wishes to inform Union member countries and their designated operators that Menzies, which provides ground handling services, has announced strike action at Portugal’s mainland airports during July and August, scheduled as follows (from Friday to the following Monday in each case): • From 00.00 on 25 July to 24.00 on 28 July; • From 00.00 on 8 August to 24.00 on 11 August; • From 00.00 on 15 August to 24.00 on 18 August; • From 00.00 on 22 August to 24.00 on 25 August; • From 00.00 on 29 August to 24.00 on 1 September. As normal ground handling operations cannot be guaranteed during these periods, disruption to both inbound and outbound mail services is to be expected. Furthermore, in view of the strikes, Lufthansa, Air France–KLM and LOT have declared an embargo on mail shipments on all their flights.
