PostNL wants to inform the IPC members that we had some hick-ups in moving our airport facility at Amsterdam Schiphol airport since 27th of June 2025. This concerns the RFID gates activation and MRD installation. For the RFID-gates, reads are missed for our airport location between 27th of June and 2nd of July. Since 3rd of July the RFID-data is exchanged as usual. The MRD is not fully installed yet and did not register any MRD data since 27th of June up to now. We are working in cooperation with IPC to have the MRD up-and-running asap . We will inform you once everything is working back again as usual.

Airport operations disrupted due to security threat: Media sources report that in the early hours of July 3 flight operations at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), Canada were temporarily disrupted after a bomb threat was received at NAV Canada’s air traffic control tower. In total, bomb threats prompted evacuations and security lockdowns at six airports across Canada including Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL). Operations were affected for several hours on the same day, but began to return to normal.

Strikes at Paris Orly and Charles-de-Gaulle Airport: Media sources reported on July 2 that authorities have requested the cancellation of 25 percent of flights departing or arriving at Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport (IATA: CDG) and Paris Orly Airport (IATA: ORY) on July 3 due to a strike by French air traffic controllers. The exact number of affected flights has not been immediately disclosed. Lingering delays and disruptions are expected.

Heavy rainfall causes flooding: Media sources report on July 1 that heavy rainfall has caused flooding in several parts of Thai Nguyen Province, Vietnam, on June 30. Several areas are flooded, including Dong Hy district, Thai Nguyen city, Song Cong city, Vo Nhai district, and Dinh Hoa district. Several local roads and highways were flooded, causing traffic congestion and road closures. Further to EmIS 094/2025, the designated operator of Iraq, the Iraq Post and Savings Company, wishes to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that Iraq has reopened its airspace, allowing outbound and inbound international postal operations to resume on Wednesday, 25 June.

Taiwan 26.06.2025

Flash flooding and power outages in parts of Chiayi County: Media sources reported on June 26 that heavy rainfall on the afternoon of the same day had caused flash flooding and power outages affecting over 17,000 customers in parts of Chiayi County, Taiwan. Roads were waterlogged, and many homes were flooded in parts of Minxiong Township, Shuishui Township and Xingang Township, while traffic congestion was also recorded. Power has since been restored to the affected customers by about 21:00 local time the same night. Business and logistics disruptions are likely to persist until floodwaters recede. Rainfall and hail are forecast for June 27.
