PostNL has confirmed that storm ‘Eunice’ is causing operational disruptions. PostNL have been arranging additional processing capacity to try and deal with the backlog caused by the extreme weather situation.
Due to heavy rainfall, many roads in some regions are difficult to reach, which may lead to delays in deliveries and collections.
Netherlands, PostNL has advised due to the ongoing partial lockdown, handover procedures will still remain contact-free as much as possible to help protect the health of postal workers and the general public. Some delays could also be experienced.
Netherlands post has advised that to minimise the spread of the coronavirus, all mail requiring a signature on delivery will no longer be signed at the moment of handover to the recipient. A procedure has been established for the carrier to enter a recipient’s reference number. This temporary measure will be effective until further notice. Delivery delays may be experienced during this time.
Flight operations were disrupted at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol due to an outage of the airport’s fuel supply system. Several hundred flights have been delayed or cancelled and ongoing delays could be experienced.
