Thunderstorms cause flash flooding: Media sources on July 1 reported that severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall caused flash flooding across parts of the northeast United States, particularly along the I-95 corridor from Virginia to New Jersey. Affected areas include Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Reading, and Baltimore, where roads were submerged, vehicles stranded, and multiple water rescues conducted. Ground stops and flight delays were reported at major airports including Philadelphia International Airport, Washington Dulles International Airport, and John F. Kennedy International Airport. Strong wind gusts led to power outages, downed trees and property damage. Flash flood emergencies were declared in parts of central Pennsylvania. Business and logistics disruptions should be expected. |
