The designated operator of the Philippines, Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost), wishes to inform Union member countries and their designated operators that a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck the province of Davao Oriental on 10 October 2025, at a depth of 20 kilometres. As a result of this seismic event, damage to various facilities and infrastructure in the region has been reported. As PHLPost assesses the impact of this event, it anticipates that there may be delays in postal services. It acknowledges the potential inconvenience that this may cause and apologizes for any disruption that customers and partners may experience.

The designated operator of the Philippines, Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost), asks us to provide Union member countries and their designated operators with an update on the impact of Typhoon Opong, which made landfall in Eastern Samar on 25 September 2025. To date, the typhoon has affected several regions across the Philippines, including Antique, Oriental Mindoro, Iloilo, Samar, Bicol, Biliran Negros Occidental, Aklan, Masbate, Zamboanga City, and Northern Cebu. The entire Eastern, Central and Western Visayas regions have also experienced significant disturbances. In addition, the city of Baguio has reported landslides because of the severe weather conditions. These incidents have contributed to ongoing challenges in the region. The typhoon has resulted in considerable damage to agriculture and infrastructure, particularly in Western Visayas. Flight cancellations have occurred owing to adverse weather conditions, impacting travel and the transport of goods, including mail services. As such, postal services in the affected areas are currently facing delays in mail collection, processing and delivery. Damage to postal facilities is further complicating operations, and communication interruptions due to power outages and damaged networks are hindering effective coordination among postal services. PHLPost is implementing recovery measures aimed at restoring and enhancing communication channels in order to remain operational. International partners are informed that, owing to the ongoing recovery efforts, there may be delays to both inbound and outbound international mail.
