05.12.2024 – Update

Poste Italiane wishes to inform that the hacking attack did not involve any of Poste Italiane’s IT systems, but only those operated by BCUBE (Poste Italiane’s airmail unit (AMU) service provider), which are currently down.

Our service provider is working to implement its contingency plans for this specific case and has informed us that it will take a number of days to complete this work.

Our international mail processing centres are working as usual, as well as all our domestic acceptance and delivery offices, albeit confronted with the high volumes of the current high-season period.

On 5 December 2024, Poste Italiane started a manual process at its AMU on outbound and inbound air dispatches in order to prevent any service interruption. Significant delays, however, are to be expected.

Logistics events such as MRD POC, MRD POD, PRECON, RESCON, CARDIT and RESDIT dispatches will not be transmitted for air dispatches until our service provider’s IT systems are operational once again.

04.12.2024 –

Poste Italiane wishes to inform that the IT systems of its airmail unit service provider bcube were the subject of a hacking attack by unknown third parties.

Following a gradual slowdown over recent days, the IT systems have been completely down since 2.30 local time on 4 December 2024.

All bcube branches, based at Milan Malpensa and Linate and Rome Fiumicino Airports, are affected.

The Italian authorities have been notified and are investigating; bcube’s IT department is working to limit the effects of the attack on its systems as far as possible, but currently the systems are down and it is not known how long it will take to restore normal functionality.
