On April 2nd there was an executive order from the USA administration to increase the tariffs on all countries globally which came into effect on April 5th, 2025, at 12:01am EDT. Currently, the Duty free de-minimis remains, except for China and Hong Kong, which will removed as of May 2nd 2025.

This is a very fluid situation with further Executive Orders (EO14256 & EO14257) from the USA on April 8th & 9th on De Minimis tariffs on goods with origin China/HK.

The list of reciprocal Tariffs published 2nd April has been reduced to 10% for all countries except for China and Hong Kong for a period of 90 days.

  • All relevant postal items containing goods that are sent through the international postal network that are valued at, or under $800 and that would otherwise qualify for the de minimis exemption are subject to:
    • a duty rate of either 90% of their value;
    • or $75 per item effective May 2, 2025, increasing to $150 per item after June 1, 2025
  • Goods not eligible for the above (Imported goods sent through means other than the international postal network) De Minimis tariffs will have 125% duty (adapted as of 9th April from a new executive order, previously it was 104%) and is effective immediately. This only affects eCommerce goods as of 2nd May when the De Minimis tariff to the US for goods with origin CN & HK ends.

UPDATE

LibanPost wishes to inform that postal operations have resumed as normal.

Original Post – 03.14.24

LibanPost wishes to update everyone on the current situation in Lebanon and the impact on postal operations.

Since the start of the Israeli military actions on 19 September 2024, ongoing missile, drone and airstrikes have been resulting in civilian casualties and mass destruction of various locations all over Lebanon. Most post office branches in the south of Lebanon are currently closed, along with several located in the southern region of Beirut.
The sorting centre remains operational, though with very limited capacity for the following reasons:

  • The high-risk locality of the LibanPost sorting centre (next to Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport), which poses a threat to the safety of employees;
  • The massive damage sustained in and around the LibanPost Beirut sorting centre as a result of the various Israeli airstrikes targeting nearby locations
  • The limited availability of air transport, which is hindering the receipt and dispatch of international mail;
  • The LibanPost fleet’s inability to travel and transport mail freely across Lebanese territory, for fear of the ongoing airstrikes.

LibanPost wishes to stress that it is continuing to do its utmost to maintain its service levels and preserve the right of every Lebanese citizen to reliable postal exchanges between Lebanon and other countries.
