Posti Ltd wishes to confirm that the Finnish Transport Workers Union (AKT) has announced a strike in the transportation sector. In addition, the Postal and Logistics Union (PAU) has announced that it will  support the AKT strike with industrial action concerning the loading and unloading of trucks and trailers from 16th – 21st February 2023. 

Consequently, Posti envisages the following delays:

• approximately 5 days for parcels and EMS items sent during the industrial action;
• 5–14 business days for letter-post items and magazines;
• approximately 5 days for long-distance deliveries requiring transportation with heavier equipment between cities in Finland;
• 5–14 business days for printed products distributed to the door or mailbox.

Posti estimates that operations will return to normal on 27 February 2023. Designated operators are asked to consider sending parcels and EMS items outside the industrial action period when delays will be minimal.

If deliveries cannot be done owing to the strike, the items will be stored appropriately. Deliveries related to health and safety will not be affected by the industrial action.

There is currently a strike in Finland by the Paper Industry which is affecting road transportation in Finland. 

The strike started on 27th January and has been scheduled to continue until Monday 17th February, unless the negotiating parties will reach an agreement beforehand. 

As a result, this is likely to result in some delays to mail traffic due to extended travel time until the strike finishes. 

The Finnish Post and Logistics Union (PAU) has announced a two-week strike in November, starting Monday 11th November until Sunday 24th November, unless a solution is found in the negotiations before then. 

Should the strike action go ahead then delays to mail services can be expected during and immediately after the strike if it goes ahead. 

The strike ended on 3rd September and mail services are returning to normal. Delays are still to be expected over the coming days until the backlog is cleared. 

Strike action by postal workers is likely to cause 24 hour delays to some parcel deliveries in the regions of Tampere, Vantaa and Jyväskylä.

Further strikes are planned for 1st and 4th September. Further delays are to be expected. 

Posti, Finland has advised that due to a strike at the Helsinki office of exchange on the 13th and 14th February 2019, delays could be experienced on outbound mail.
