Poste Italiane has confirmed that the eastern part of Sicily is still affected by the heavy rainfall which caused flooding and road closures earlier this month. Delays with processing mail items is expected for a little while longer and appreciate your understanding during this time.

Post Italiane has confirmed that standard delivery practices, including the taking of signatures on delivery, have resumed in all areas of the country, with the recipient being required to wear face coverings. If the addressee’s condition does not allow safe delivery, a notice of delivery with instructions for item collection will be placed in the mailbox.

Poste Italiane has advised it is taking additional measures regarding acceptance and delivery of parcels. If the addressee cannot be contacted, or in the case of parcels addressed to businesses, cultural institutions, commercial activities and other entities that are temporarily closed, items can not returned to sender after first delivery attempt. Italian Post has advised that the whole country has now become a Yellow Zone effective until 3rd April 2020 or unless a later date is advised. Human movement and social contact are to be minimised. Commercial transport is permitted with precautionary measures to minimise human contact. As a result, there has been a reduction in the workforce of the logistic chain within Italian Post, resulting in delays with the processing and delivery of mail items.
