The designated operator of Belgium, bpost, wishes to inform Union member countries and their designated operators that a national demonstration will take place across Belgium, organized by the country’s national trade unions in protest against various measures taken by the federal government. This action is expected to last 24 hours and to cause disruptions in various key sectors such as transport, public services and logistics, commencing at 00.01 CEST (UTC+2) on Tuesday, 14 October 2025. This industrial action is expected to affect various postal services across the country, including letter-post and parcel-post deliveries, as well as bpost’s domestic and international logistics network. In addition, all incoming and outgoing flights to and from Brussels Airport will be cancelled on 14 October.

Next Tuesday, 14th of October, a national manifestation will take place across Belgium, organized by the national trade unions in Belgium in protest against various measures taken by the federal government.  This action is expected to cause disruptions in key sectors such as transport, public services and logistics.

While we are making every effort to minimize the impact on our services, we would like to inform you that this industrial action may affect the delivery of your mail and parcels within Belgium.  
In addition, all incoming and outgoing flights from Brussels Airport are cancelled on the 14th of October.

Belgium, bpost, informs that, in light of the new import requirements introduced by the US executive order dated 30 July 2025, it will no longer accept open or closed transit items containing goods destined for the United States of America. This measure will take effect on 20 August 2025, in accordance with article 17-013 of the Convention Regulations.

Any transit or misrouted items containing goods that are destined for the United States and arrive at bpost’s international mail processing centres will be returned to origin.

This measure will take effect on 20 August 2025, in accordance with article 17-013 of the Convention Regulations. Any transit or misrouted items containing goods that are destined for the United States and arrive at bpost’s international mail processing centres will be returned to origin.

Workers strike at Brussels Airport: Media sources reported that workers at Brussels Airport, Belgium, were expected to take part in a nationwide strike on June 25 against ongoing concerns regarding working conditions and government policies. All outbound flights have been cancelled at the airport for the day. Disruptions to cargo transportation and related operations are to be expected.

Nationwide general strike impacts Bpost services in Belgium: Intelligence received by Everstream Analytics on June 23 indicated that local unions have called a 24-hour nationwide general strike from 00:01 local time on June 25 across Belgium. As a result, disruptions to bpost’s domestic as well as international logistics network, delays in the delivery of letter post, parcel post, and logistics services are to be expected. Aviation workers including ground handlers will reportedly join the action, leading to delays in inbound and outbound air shipments at Brussels Airport (IATA: BRU).
