The designated operator of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Royal Mail, would like to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that there is a phishing e-mail purporting to originate from Royal Mail. Royal Mail has seen examples of the phishing e-mail (forwarded to the operator by other designated operators). The e-mails were received early in the morning (UK time) on 16 May 2025. The e-mail address provided is not real – see example below to support identification: Royal Mail urges all designated operators to be vigilant in the area of phishing e-mails, so as to protect themselves from both a financial and cybersecurity perspective. Royal Mail would like to remind designated operators that they should continue to be guided by the relevant Royal Mail settlement information – especially the payee account number information – available in the UPU documentation centre: International Bureau circulars with bank details. It wishes to reiterate that the valid information to be used for payments by transfer remains that provided through the above link, as per International Bureau circular No. 89 of 3 June 2024.
