UKP Worldwide Celebrate 15 Years!

October 2015 saw UKP Worldwide celebrate our 15th anniversary.

Established in 2000 as UK Postings Ltd, we provide fulfilment and distribution services to the publishing sector. The distribution of magazines and periodical mail around the world still remains at the heart of our organisation today.

In 2010, we incorporated our US Company, it’s sole purpose to directly inject mail into the US Postal System (USPS).

Over the last 15 years, we have diversified and extended our service offer from traditional mail to include an eCommerce parcel service. Using in-house expertise and extensive knowledge of the international mail industry, we have developed several innovative and specialist cross-border logistics solutions for eCommerce parcels. Many of which include a full merchant return solution too. We operate direct eCommerce services to the United States, Mexico, Australia and the EU with more destinations to follow.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, customers and suppliers for their support, dedication and the valued relationships we’ve developed over the last fifteen years, we look forward to working with you all for many more years to come!

eBay: New On-Time Delivery Metric… Are you ready?

eBay have announced that they are updating seller performance standards to help recognise when a seller delivers a great buyer experience. Seller performance will no longer primarily be based on a buyer’s opinion, making it easier for seller’s to manage their standing and be recognised when they’ve given great service.

From 20th February 2016, eBay will evaluate a seller’s performance standard based on the updated defect criteria and the new on-time delivery metric.

What does the new on-time delivery metric mean for an eBay seller?

Buyers want their items delivered on time. With the new on-time delivery metric, eBay will measure delivery performance based on what the seller can control – posting items on time.

In order to meet the new on-time delivery metric, orders have to be:

  • Item tracking status as ‘Accepted’ within seller’s dispatch time
  • Item tracking status as ‘Delivered’ within estimated delivery time
  • The buyer confirms that the delivery was made on time

Deliveries will be considered late when:

  • A seller does not upload tracking information and the buyer states the item arrived after the estimated delivery date
  • Tracking shows no acceptance scan within the stated dispatch time and the item arrived after the estimated delivery date, plus the buyer does not confirm that the item arrived on time or states it arrived after the estimated delivery date

How can an eBay top-rated seller protect their performance?

All top-rated seller’s fall under tighter measurements for the on-time delivery metric, with a maximum of 4% of transactions that aren’t delivered on time.

Seller’s should review their dispatch times and the services they use to ship their items. If possible, they should switch over to a tracked service, which also means they are not relying on the customer to confirm they’ve received the item.

How can UKP Worldwide help?

If sellers regularly ship goods valued under $200 USD to the United States, they could benefit from our eCommerce service.

As approved wholesalers for the United States Postal Service (USPS), we have direct access to all their tracked parcel services, which can be accessed from most countries around the world.

The tracked service we offer is simple yet sophisticated and has been designed to help your business reach U.S. customers. It removes the stress and hassle that is sometimes encountered with cross-border parcel distribution.

We follow defined procedures with strict timelines to enable us to process and get your goods delivered within 4-7 days, on time and within budget.

UKP Worldwide Becomes Approved USPS Global Direct Entry Wholesaler

Easy, affordable eCommerce solutions direct to your USA customers

We are pleased to announce the successful launch of our Global Direct Entry (GDE) service – helping businesses deliver eCommerce goods to their U.S. customers. As an approved Global Direct Entry Wholesaler for the United States Postal Service (USPS), it allows companies to ship directly to their U.S. customers’ from many destinations around the world quickly and at an affordable price.

Specialising in international mailing, distribution and eCommerce logistics, we have been sending goods to the U.S. on behalf of our customers for more than 14 years. In 2010, we set up a subsidiary in New Jersey, where we have been working directly with the United States Postal Service and very much see ourselves as an expert within the field. As a result, we have been providing parcel and address sortation services to our customers, allowing them to benefit from postal sortation discounts.

The GDE service is perfect for eCommerce or wholesale customers that send goods with a value of $200 USD or less to the U.S. and internationally. Our service provides:

  • Direct access to the entire U.S. market with goods exported directly to the United States Postal Service
  • Two delivery services available:

    – Standard 5-7 days
    – Express 2-4 days

  • Shipping of goods up to 15kg
  • Insurance protection available
  • USPS tracked service
  • Email notification
  • Customs clearance

Lee Bucktrout, Managing Director, UKP Worldwide says “The UK has the highest share of online retailing in the world and is the second biggest online retail exporter, beaten only by the USA. 2013 saw £32 billion online retail sales in the UK, of which £4.2 billion was international customers. By 2020, the value of the UK eCommerce is estimated to be £68 billion. Online consumers increasingly expect visibility and delivery notifications throughout the whole process and don’t expect the delivery of goods to cost more than the product they have paid for. This is especially the case when ordering goods from overseas where cross border shipping can be a real cost issue for the consumer, and at times a barrier to export for the retailer. Our U.S. service is efficient, trackable and offers a cost effective alternative to expensive courier shipments. Our customers have been able to improve their delivery time and provide their U.S. consumers a tracked service with email notification that’s resulted in lower costs, quicker delivery and the recipient being updated at each stage of the delivery.”

We will be attending the eCommerce Expo, Olympia, London on 1st-2nd October and the World Mail & Express Show, Kuala Lumpur on 14-16th October 2014, where we will be available to discuss full details of the GDE service and advise how you and your customers could benefit. Alternatively, please email info@ukpworldwide.com for further information.

Ricoh PROC 751 Delivers First Class Benefits

We’re already seeing the significant benefits of investing in a Ricoh Pro C751 digital press, just three months after installing the machine at our Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire site. The new Ricoh machine with a fiery RIP has been installed as part of the latest step in a strategy that ensures we can offer both our UK and US customers a more on-demand, integrated & personalised print offering to support our fulfilment and postal operation.

Lee Bucktrout, Managing Director says “Like most brands and industries, our customers in the publishing and direct mail sectors need to get closer to their customers, make contact by engaging with them to increase brand loyalty and awareness, but achieve both of these within a more restrictive marketing budget.

“However, two great ways they can achieve this is by making the marketing around the product more personalised and targeted and secondly, ensure it is up to date. Consequently, last year we decided we could offer our customers an opportunity to help them to achieve this through us if we invested in robust digital printing technology that could offer high levels of data management, VDP and personalisation, all on demand.”

Our investment in the Ricoh Pro C751 is now enabling us to support customers with a more integrated, on-demand marketing-led print production service to augment its core business. And the decision to invest has already been more than validated in just a couple of months.

Lee continues “With the help of Ricoh, we undertook our first campaign for a customer as soon as we had the press installed. It was a large pre-Christmas marketing campaign on behalf of one of our publishing clients, which involved high levels of personalisation as well as up selling of other titles. The campaign was a real success, the client was happy and it gave us a clear business model for this new service that we can now roll out to other customers. Ricoh’s help was invaluable through this initial period. Since then, we have also secured another major contract with one of our US-based publishing customers, which involves personalised printing of the supporting marketing materials as well as one of their magazines itself here in the UK – the latter through one of our UK partners. Prior to this they were shipping the whole package – magazine and marketing materials from the US for us to simply distribute, so this is an outstanding result.”

“The customer is happy as the magazine has more lead time and is more up to date, production and logistics costs are down by around 20% and their readers are receiving a more relevant magazine with more targeted marketing materials around it. This is the perfect outcome for all parties and exactly what we were hoping for. With the Ricoh machine, we now have another great, proven business proposition to take to market. We see this side of the business being approximately 15 percent of our revenue stream in just three years’ time. It’s an ambitious target, but the results in the first three months speak for themselves.” Lee concludes.

Superior image quality and exceptional functionality gives the new Ricoh Pro™ C751 series the highest specification and reliability of any digital press in its class, raising the standard for productivity, efficiency, quality and profitability. It offers extremely high image quality VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) technology for razor sharp 4800 dpi, chemical PxP™ toner and oil-less technology for accurate, smooth offset-like image quality. The Pro C751 has outstanding media versatility and an improved fusing unit and high productivity with substrates up to 300 gsm. The 751 has exceptional durability 180k maximum monthly volume, 75 ppm colour/mono and offers maximum uptime thanks to a new liquid cooling system that enables extended and continuous printing. The machine also has enhanced ORUs (Operator Replaceable Units) and toner bottles, waste toner and the ability to change media on the fly.

Gareth Parker, Strategic Marketing Manager, Ricoh UK, says “The fact the Pro C751 is already helping to give UKP Worldwide the freedom to operate their business in new ways is great news. To have secured such positive results and new contracts so soon after the installation is a real credit to their team. Since we first met in the summer of 2013, they have quickly grasped exactly how digital print can transform their proposition and open up new revenue streams and have applied this knowledge to their international model with great success. I’m sure the digital print package will continue to be a key component of their commercial direction over the next few years. It’s an exciting proposition for them and great for us to see Lee and his company thrive as their digital print partner.“

Introducing UKP Worldwide – the new name for UK Postings and Mail Right International

I’m Lee Bucktrout. I set up UK Postings in October 2000, in High Wycombe, moving to our current site in Aylesbury about nine years ago. In 2010, I established Mail Right International in the United States, with the aim of handling inbound US mail and packages.

In 2014, I decided to bring together these successful, established companies under the banner of UKP Worldwide. This new identity reflects the global services we provide for customers around the world.

Despite being a newly branded company, UKP Worldwide has over 50 years’ experience in the mailing and fulfilment industry, and a wealth of expertise. We continue to provide competitive, tailored, global mailing management and distribution services, high-tech data management, and e-fulfilment services.

We remain totally committed to our core business of international mail and magazine fulfilment and distribution. We will also be introducing new services, such as quality digital printing – which offers a flexible alternative to traditional print methods.

We also plan to expand our e-commerce fulfilment and cross border solutions in the near future.

Our New Jersey subsidiary will continue to handle inbound US mail and packages, and to provide specialist mailing and distribution services throughout the United States.

If you have any questions about UKP Worldwide, please get in touch.
