Canada Post has confirmed that as of noon on Tuesday 27th November, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) is no longer in a legal position following the passage of legalisation by the Government of Canada.
Operators can now resume the sending of mail, however, they are still experiencing severe backlogs for mail and parcels and this is expected to worsen significantly with the arrival of large volumes of online orders from Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Canada Post is currently unable to honour its delivery standards because of the backlogs created by the rotating strikes and labour disruptions. While Canada Post is operational and will continue to minimise service impacts, delays will take several weeks to clear.
Canada Post wishes to thank everyone for their understanding. We will keep you informed of developments.
