Finland

There is currently a strike in Finland by the Paper Industry which is affecting road transportation in Finland. 

The strike started on 27th January and has been scheduled to continue until Monday 17th February, unless the negotiating parties will reach an agreement beforehand. 

As a result, this is likely to result in some delays to mail traffic due to extended travel time until the strike finishes. 

Israel

Israel Post advises that transport and delivery of mail may be delayed due to events in Jerusalem between 22nd and 24th January to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp.

Canada

Canada Post has advised that due to heavy snowfall, the city of St. John’s, Newfoundland, has declared a state of emergency. Collection and delivery of all mail items has currently been suspended. 

Philippines

Delays are expected to the processing and delivery of international mail due to activity from Taal Volcano, this has also spread ashfall in the areas of Batangas, Laguna and Tagaytay City in the province of Cavite. Taal Volcano activity has not yet stopped and eruptions are still possible. 

Italy

The temporary closure of the airport in Bari from 15th January – 22nd January for maintenance work is likely to have resulted in delays to mail services in the area.
