Tonga – Disruption of Internet connection

Tonga Post Ltd has advised that internet services in Tonga have been down since Sunday evening, 20 January 2019. This problem is a technical fault with Tonga’s submarine cables and is beyond the control of Tonga Post and the Internet service providers.

Tonga Post apologises for any inconvenience caused and will provide further updates when the situation has returned to normal.

Greece – Strike

The Greek postal operator has informed us that the Federation of Postal Associations of Hellenic Post [ELTA] S.A. has announced a 24 hours strike for Wednesday 23 January 2019.

As result, mail collection and delivery will be affected until after the strike, with delays potentially continuing for several days after 24 January 2019 due to possible backlogs.

Uruguay – End of strike

Correo Uruguayo of Uruguay has advised that negotiations have been fruitful and that the processing of inward international mail will return to normal on 28th January 2019. All postal items can be forwarded to Uruguay from 28th January 2019 onwards.

Correo Uruguayo thanks everyone for their patience and understanding.

Switzerland – return to normal

The weather in the eastern part of Switzerland has now stabilised and mail services resumed on 17th January, with the exceptions of a few homes that remain isolated.

Previously impacted postcode areas were 72xx, 73xx, 75xx, 76xx and 77xx due to roads closures.

Please note a few days may be required to clear any backlog, hence may still observe some delays through to the weekend.
